Hypos are named because they are hypomelanistic, meaning they have reduced melanin. They are often called "Ghosts" for obvious reasons.
The mutation is recessive. Most lines of hypos are compatible, and come in a variety shades, (green, butterscotch, yellow, orange, and desert).
